Seto Dharti, a novel written by Amar Neupane which was awarded by Madan Puraskar was published in March 2012 in Nepali Language. This novel tries to portrays the real bitter truth of past Nepal through child widow name “Tara” and makes us able to understand the horrible life of child widow. 

Synopsis:
The story in the novel is about a life of Tara’s at the time interval where child marriage used to be very common. Tara’s is a simple girl living in a village while spending her time playing with other children. And gets married at the age of seven, the very age at which she does not even understand the meaning of marriage. And in this story the terrible tradition of child marriage in the name of religion and the struggles of child widow is revealed.

After getting married, Tara's husband goes to Banaras for his studies, where he dies and Tara is bound to live her life as a child widow at the age of nine. And the obstacles start to rise one by one. And she comes back to her father’s house from husband house in order to forget all the pain from such heavy losses. And later on, her mother dies and she have to take all responsibility of house in her mother’s place.But she leaves his father’s house at her adult age and moves to Devghat, which a religious place for Hindus. And then she starts to live there by making small hut.
In short, this novel is the biography of a widow girl name Tara who, who never got any chance to experience any pleasure or joy in life, but she was still battling with fear, desires and greed in her life. And also shows the awful glimpse of ancient Nepalese society.
